Why Pakistan Army is Not Going to Take Over the Democratic Governement?

Pakistan is facing difficulties and hardships at many different fronts including internal and external security threats, international pressures about war-on-terror and severe economic pressures that are really causing problems for economy of Pakistan to be stable and progressive.
Democratic Government in Pakistan has completely failed to overcome any of these challenges. Other than being unsuccessful at various administrative and economic fronts, our current government is also now heading towards the institutional clash(it seems like this to me) with "Independent Judiciary" - at least what assumption most of the people have about judiciary; I am never saying that this assumption is wrong.

In such a situation when democratic government has almost failed to settle down things, some people are now asking that is it the time for Army to interfere and take over the administrative charge. Well, in my opinion this is never going to happen, at least I can't see any such adventure from army in near future. Well, this opinion of mine is based on facts.

The first and the most important reason that army is not going to take over is that General Ashfaq Pervaiz Kyani(current army chief) has very clear stance about army's role from the very first day. He always expressed his best wishes for the success of democratic government, by his words as well as by his actions. Army's image was badly tarnished during Musharaf's government so the new chief is looking to improve their image public. And army generals now have very clear idea that if they tried to do something unconstitutional or illegal, people will not show any soft corner for them.

Another reason for not being able to take over is the recent changes in the Pakistan's society over the past few years. Now, public has much more awareness about their rights. A fully independent and vibrant media is working in the country that makes it almost impossible for army to come into power. Political Parties have also learned from their past experiences and they now know very well that if army came into administrative power, none of the political parties is going to get anything and they may again have to wait for the next ten or so years. So, besides having conflicting interests or having different stance on various national issues, political parties are not in a mood to give chance to any third party - army.

Supreme Court of Pakistan is also playing a vital role in this whole scenario. Justice Iftikhar Hussain has clearly expressed many times that judiciary will never provide any support in any unconstitutional act. He always said that they are not going to revise their past mistakes.

Due to all above mentioned and some other factors, army somehow is not in a position to take over the democratic government in Pakistan. And as a unbiased citizen of Pakistan, I personally think that even though situation is not in the best interest of country and people of Pakistan are in pathetic situation still army should never interfere in civilian matters. This becomes even more important when country is facing many internal and external security threats and our forces are already engaged at many fronts again terrorism. So, Pakistan Army need to concentrate only on their duty and let the civilians handle the administrative challenges in Pakistan - and this is also in the best interest of our motherland.
